The number of turns of the stator winding is short-circuited, and the short-circuit voltage causes a circuit current that may cause a turn-to-turn short circuit. It becomes a single-phase ground short circuit and a phase-to-phase short circuit. If the stator winding has a short circuit in several phases, it will cause great damage to the unit and the short circuit current will cause the device to burn.

The excitation current will decrease drastically or disappear, the generator will draw a large amount of reactive power from the system, the generator will start asynchronously from synchronous operation, the system voltage will drop and the system will crash.

The excitation circuit is connected to ground. Generator excitation circuit: There are two types of ground connection in 1-point ground and 2-point ground. In general, when the excitation circuit is slightly grounded, the generator will not be seriously damaged. But if the generator is not repaired in time and 2 points are connected to the ground, the magnetic flux and the balance of the rotor will be lost, causing the generator to vibrate violently, which may eventually burn the rotor winding.

The generator set suffers from overvoltage. When the generator suddenly loses its load during operation, if the generator cannot be recovered immediately, overvoltage will occur due to the high inertia of the speed control system, and the insulation layer of the generator set may be destroyed.

The generator set is overloaded. Generator overload means that the generator is operating more than the rated capacity. If the generator is not repaired immediately, short-term overload operation will increase the temperature of the generator stator winding, accelerate the deterioration of the insulation part, and shorten the life of the generator. If the generator is overloaded for a long time, the stator winding of the generator will burn out and the generator may eventually fail to produce electricity.

The stator passes the excess current. Stator overcurrent is usually caused by an external short circuit or system oscillation. If the generator is not repaired in time, the temperature of the generator stator will increase slightly and the aging of the winding insulation will be greatly accelerated, which may cause other faults. In order to prevent the occurrence of the above defects, the user immediately stops the device after discovering the defect. Regardless of the size of the defect, the equipment must be repaired before use. In addition, diesel power generation units are equipped with relevant protection equipment for better protection of the units.
